Families are where we learn to live, love and share loss! Families are constantly changing, growing and re-inventing. They share in coming together and letting go. When we learn that our family is not perfect and we can grow together, there is hope! That is why it takes a lifetime to understand them!
Families are growing, dynamic systems. They have distinct stages that are developmental. Much like a tree, each stage builds on the last and provides the base for the future! When problems and conflict occur, the family must learn from failure, resolving conflicts and forgiving, and get back to growing. If not, the family will arrest and stay at the same inadequate problem-solving pattern. Blame, shame and distrust began, and dying sets in.
Healthy families work because they have values of love, integrity, open communication and respect for others! Healthy families are safe to learn to love, fail and feel accepted.
